PNG to SVG converter
Upload a PNG, get an SVG with real paths you can scale, recolour and edit. Free, no watermark, nothing to install.
SVG export is free. DXF, EPS and PDF are on the Pro plan.
A PNG is a grid of pixels. Enlarge it and the grid shows. An SVG is a set of mathematical curves, so it stays sharp at any size, from a favicon to a billboard.
Tracer reads the shapes in your PNG and redraws them as paths. What comes back opens in Figma, Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity and anything else that reads SVG.
How it works
How to convert PNG to SVG
Drop in your PNG
Transparency is kept with every preset except Tattoo / Stencil, which flattens it onto white. If your image has a busy background, crop it first, because every stray pixel becomes a path.
Pick a preset
Logo / Line art for flat marks and monochrome shapes. Clean / Flat for illustrations with a limited palette. Detailed when the artwork has more going on. Auto if you would rather not decide.
Check, then download
Look at the result before exporting. Count the shapes, check that holes in letters are real holes, and test it at the size you will actually use.
When this works and when it doesn't
Works well: logos, icons, line art, flat illustrations, screenshots of simple graphics, scanned drawings with good contrast, anything with clear edges and a limited palette.
Works badly: photographs. A photo has thousands of colours and no hard boundaries, so a trace produces either a mosaic of shapes or a posterised approximation. If you want a vector from a photo, trace it as a deliberate poster effect or use the trace as a template and redraw.
Worth knowing: a PNG with soft, anti-aliased edges gives the tracer intermediate pixels to interpret, and those become extra shapes. Raising the contrast before you upload does more for the result than any setting.
