PNG to EPS converter
Turn a PNG into an EPS your print shop will accept. Vector paths, no raster hidden inside.
SVG export is free. DXF, EPS and PDF are on the Pro plan.
EPS is old, and that is exactly why print shops still ask for it. It has been around long enough that every piece of prepress software on earth reads it, which makes it the safe answer when a supplier says "send vector".
The catch: you can wrap a raster image inside an EPS and it will open fine and print badly. A real EPS contains paths, and that is what this produces.
How it works
How to convert PNG to EPS
Upload your PNG
Highest resolution you have.
Pick a preset
Logo / Line art for single-colour marks and lettering. Clean / Flat for illustrations with a limited palette.
Remove the background
Press Remove background before exporting, so the white around and inside your shapes is left out instead of printed as white (if it's greyed out, there is no background to remove).
Export as EPS
Available on the Pro plan.
What print shops actually check
That it contains paths. Open the file and try to select an individual shape. If the whole thing selects as one block, it is a raster in an EPS wrapper and the shop will send it back.
That the colour count matches the job. Screen printing charges per colour, because each one is a separate screen. Four colours that look nice on screen is four screens to burn and align.
That text is outlined. Live text needs your fonts installed on their machine. A traced file solves this by default, because a trace produces shapes rather than type.
That the holes are real. Counters filled with white shapes print as white blocks on coloured stock. On white paper nobody notices until the job runs on something else.
When this works and when it doesn't
Works well: logos, lettering, flat illustrations, anything going to screen printing, embroidery digitising or a traditional prepress workflow.
Works badly: photographs. If you need a photo in a print job, send the photo at high resolution rather than vectorizing it.
