Introducing Streak Freeze

A streak is a promise you make to yourself, and life breaks promises for you. You catch the flu, you fly across three timezones, a deadline eats your Tuesday. Miss one day and a 60-day streak resets to zero — and for a lot of people that zero is exactly where they quit. We didn't want the app's most motivating number to also be its most fragile one.

Streak Freeze is our answer: a way to protect a streak through a genuinely bad day without pretending the day didn't happen.

Every month you get two freezes. Tap a day you know you'll miss — or one you already missed — and mark it frozen. The streak survives; the day stays visibly frozen on the calendar, never disguised as a completed one. You can freeze a day up to 24 hours after it ends, so the morning-after save is allowed.

We tested unlimited freezes in an internal build, and predictably the streak stopped meaning anything — if every miss can be erased, the number is just decoration. Two is enough to cover the real bad weeks and few enough that you spend them on purpose. There's a whole separate post on why the number is two.

Streak Freeze is rolling out this week to everyone on iOS and Android, free tier included. It was never meant to make missing free — just to let one honest habit survive a year that will, guaranteed, include some days you can't show up.
